Cung Le (4-0-0) will be looking to add his fifth consecutive win at the next Strikeforce event (Strikeforce:Four Men Enter, One Man Survives) in mid-November when he faces former UFC fighter Sam Morgan (18-8-0). San Shou master, Cung Le, won last June to Tony Fryklund via TKO-strikes in the third round. Le’s tremendous stand-up abilities have helped him finish all of his fights by either a KO or a TKO. Three of his four fights ended in the first round, which comes to show how impressive he can be with finishing his fights.
Sam Morgan will look to test Cung Le as Sam is well known for his take downs and his ability to finish his opponents via submissions. Morgan was part of The Ultimate Fighter 2 cast and fought Josh Burkman at the Ultimate Fighter 2 finale. Although he lost to Burkman via a KO-slam in first round, he was able to learn from his mistakes and bounce back by winning the following 2 fights in other organizations. He decided to come back to the UFC, where he faced Forrest Petz at UFC’s Fight Night 6, but lost to him via a unanimous decision in August of 2006.
After taking some time off and training hardcore, he feels more than
ready to come back and fight once again. Although he has been inactive for a little over a year, his approach will be very different than what Le is probably used to. Le states that he is very comfortable on the ground as well, but he hasn’t really been forced to be in such a scenario. Defeating a man like Cung Le
could put him back into a good position once again.
Many of us know that Le’s stand-up game is superb, but can he fight equally on the ground? If he is taken to the ground, things might just change. However, his speed and his defensive take downs have proven to be very effective so far.
