As part of the UFC 104 co-main event, the UFC has confirmed the much anticipated heavyweight clash between Shane Carwin (11-0) and Cain Velasquez (6-0).  Both fighters are undefeated and both of them are hungry for a win as a victory would most likely place them next at a heavyweight title shot against current champion Brock Lesnar.

Ryan “Darth” Bader has announced his official UFC 104 opponent.  According to Bader, he has been scheduled to fight against 5-time UFC veteran Eric “Red” Schafer on October 24 as part of the main fight card.

Bader will look to add on another win to his undefeated MMA record of 9 wins, 0 losses.  His last victory was acquired in April of 2009 at the UFC Fight Night 18 event where he defeated Carmelo Marrero via a unanimous decision.  During that bout, the Ultimate fighter 8 winner injured his knee and tore his MCL and PCL.  Bader is currently recuperating from his injury, but says he’ll be 100% by UFC 104.

Schafer is coming off a 4-fight winning streak with his most recent UFC wins over Houston Alexander at UFC Fight Night 15 and Antonio Mendes at UFC 93.  The grappling master plans to keep his winning streak going in order to climb right up the light heavyweight ladder.

UFC 104 is scheduled to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on October 24th, 2009.  The main event will feature a light heavyweight title bout between current UFC champion Lyoto Machida and former PrideFC 2005 middleweight grand prix champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua.  Expect fireworks…
