Thales Leites told media that he’ll be replacing the injured Rousimar Palhares that was expected to fight Alessio Sakara at UFC 101.  Leites recently lost a UFC middleweight title fight against Anderson “The Spider” Silva via a unanimous decision.  He plans to bounce back from a very poor performance on August 8th at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  UFC 101 headlines a lightweight title bout between current champion BJ Penn and Kenny Florian while the co-main event is a 205-pound fight between Anderson Silva and Forrest Griffin.

According to mmaweekly.com, sources close to the fight said the loser of the bout would like be cut form the UFC.

Snip from Thales Leites:

“What is most important is getting back to fighting as soon as possible…I know that I didn’t fight well, that things didn’t go as I wanted, so nothing is better than starting again…I know that the expectations will be enormous, because now I need to show that I deserve another shot at the title. But this is good, it will give more motivation.”
