Renato “Babalu” Sobral was recently fined $25,000 for holding onto a choke even though the ref tried to stop it as he faced David Heath at UFC 74-Respect (results and pics). Due to this, he was fired by the UFC almost instantly. Babalu had been looking for a new organization, but had absolutely no luck.
After struggling to find a company to sign with, he hired Ken Pavia as his new agent. Pavia is also an agent to MMA stars like James Thompson, Cyrille Diabate, Carmelo Marrero, Carlo Prater and Tod Moore.
It didn’t take much time for Babalu to find a new home thereafter. Strikeforce announced the signing of Renato Sobral in a public speech made during the Strikeforce event that occurred this past Saturday at the Playboy mansion.
New manager, new organization…new Babalu??
