Originally, the UFC wanted to place the winner of Mike Swick and Martin Kampmann next in line for a UFC welterweight title shot. They were scheduled to fight each other at UFC 103 as part of the main fight card. However, Swick was forced out of the card due to a concussion he sustained during a training session. With Kampmann losing to Paul Daley in the UFC 103 event, the UFC decided to change things up a bit.
Now, Swick will be taking on the Cage Warriors welterweight/light-welterweight champion Dan Hardy as part of the UFC 105 main fight card. The UFC promotion announced that the winner of Swick vs. Hardy will go next in line to face the current UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre (GSP). GSP plans to return to training sometime in October and will fight again in early 2010.
