Matt ‘The Law’ Lindland Signs 3-Fight Deal With Strikeforce

Matt Lindland

Matt “The Law” Lindland is best known for winning a silver medal in Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2000 Olympics. He earned the nickname “The Law” after suing the Olympic Committee for a spot on the team.  The former UFC and Bodog fighter currently holds an overall MMA record of 21-6 with huge wins over popular contenders including Phil Baroni, Travis Lutter, Jeremy Horn, Ricardo Almeida, Carlos Newton and others.

We have learned that Lindland has just joined the middleweight division, inking a 3-fight deal with the Strikeforce promotion.  Lindland was 1-1 in his last home over at Affliction, defeating Fabio Nascimento in his first fight via a unanimous decision.  After a highly criticized victory for”The Law,” Lindland promised a better performance on his following bout.  However, he failed to keep his word as he was knocked out by Vitor Belfort 37 seconds into the first round.

Although no opponent has been assigned to the former Silver medalist just yet, he plans to make a statement with anyone in Strikeforce sometime this Fall.
