Matt Hughes Confirms UFC 117 Fight Against Ricardo Almeida In Oakland

The former two-time UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes will be squaring up against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu expert Ricardo Almeida at UFC 117.  Hughes confirmed the news via his personal website at Matt-Hughes.com.

Hughes is currently riding on a two-fight win streak with victories over Matt Serra at UFC 98 and then against Renzo Gracie at UFC 112.  The American wrestler will be taking on another grappling master, Almeida, who is coming off three consecutive wins.  His last victories were against Matt Horwich at UFC Fight Night 18, Kendall Grove at UFC 101 and Matt Brown at UFC 111.

From Matt Hughes:

“The UFC hasn’t told me I can release this yet, but I’m going to go ahead and say that I’ve done my paperwork to fight Ricardo Almeida on August 7th, in Oakland, CA. A lot of you know my history with the UFC, I’ve never turned down a fight and this is who they asked me to fight next.”
