Martin Kampmann vs. Carlos Condit Booked For UFC Fight Night 18 (April 1)

Current WEC welterweight champion Carlos "Natural Born Killer" Condit was originally scheduled to take on Brock Larson for the 170-pound title as part of the WEC 39 co-main event on March 1st, 2009.  Instead, Condit will be taking on the very tough Martin "Hitman" Kampmann as part of the UFC Ultimate Fight Night 18 main event that takes place on April 1st in Nashville, Tennessee.

Condit has won 8 consecutive  MMA bouts and he is 5-0 in the WEC.  His last loss came to Pat Healy via a rear-naked choke almost 3 years ago at the Extreme Wars 3 event.   Condit's long winning streak has helped him join the always-competitive welterweight division of the UFC.

Kampmann has won 10 of his last 11 MMA bouts, losing only to Nate "The Great" Marquardt back in July of 2008.  The loss to Marquardt was his last fight as a 185-pounder.  He decided to move down to the 170-pound division after being convinced by his training team.  His debut as a welterweight was against Alexandre Barros.  He defeated Barros via TKO-strikes as part of the UFC 93 preliminary fight card.  Now, he'll be looking to add on his second win as a welterweight but this time against the hard-hitting "Natural Born Killer."
