Junior Dos Santos sounds to be very grateful to be given the opportunity to fight Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic, another top name in the sport of mixed martial arts. Dos Santos is confident with his gameplan and assures everyone that he will “surprise everyone again” just like he did when he knocked out Fabricio Werdum in the first round at UFC 90.
Dos Santos also mentions the fact that he was already training for the UFC 102 bout that he was first scheduled for, so he’ll be more than ready as UFC 103 approaches. He plans to work out with Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira next in order to help him prepare for his UFC 102 main event fight against Randy “The Natural” Couture. In exchange, Nogueira will help out Dos Santos with his fight against Cro Cop.
Snip from Junior Dos Santos:
“The UFC put me in a good situation again, to be able to face an idol of the MMA world. To me it’s a great opportunity, as was my first fight there, against Werdum…This one will be even more important than against Werdum and I’m really happy for it. As I said before, I didn’t want them to change my fight date, but when I found out it would be against Cro Cop I accepted right away…I’m certain it’s a golden opportunity for my career and I will, surely, make the most of it. I’m training really hard, already, and I’ll go in there prepared. I’m going to surprise everyone again…Training has already begun. I’d already been training for my bout at UFC 102, so I just carried on. I’m here in Bahia, brushing up on my boxing and doing Jiu-Jitsu. This weekend I’ll head to Los Angeles to help Rodrigo (Minotauro) for his fight against Couture and also for him to help me for my fight, since he has already faced Cro Cop.”
