Junior Dos Santos Confirms UFC 117 Fight Against Roy Nelson In Oakland

UFC heavyweight fighter Junior Dos Santos will be fighting Ultimate Fighter winner Roy Nelson as part of the upcoming UFC 117 event in Oakland, California.  Dos Santos confirmed the news via his Twitter account earlier today.

Dos Santos (11-1) is currently riding on a six fight winning streak, all wins by way of either KO or TKO.  The Brazilian knockout artist is gradually getting closer to his shot at the heavyweight title, which means that a victory over Nelson could possibly put him next for a shot at the belt.

The former IFL heavyweight champion Nelson (15-4) has locked in two consecutive KO wins in the UFC.  His first victory came against Brendan Schaub at the TUF 10 finale.  He later made a huge statement by knocking out Stefan Struve at 0:39 of the first round.  Nelson plans on working his way up the heavyweight rankings so this fight is perhaps the most important MMA fight in his career.

Both fighters must win in order to climb right up the heavyweight race, expect fireworks on August 7th at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.  UFC 117 will be headlined by a 185-pound title fight between current champ Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva taking on UFC’s no.1 middleweight contender Chael Sonnen.
