John Hathaway Plans On Taking Diego Sanchez Down And Pounding Him Out At UFC 114

The undefeated UFC lightweight fighter John ‘The Hitman” Hathaway (12-0) respects Diego ‘The Nightmare’ Sanchez and his ability to fight both standing up and on the ground.  However, Hathaway feels he can keep up with ‘The Nightmare’ and will be looking to eventually ground and pound his way to his 13th consecutive victory.

The Hathaway vs. Sanchez bout will be aired as part of the pay-per-view main card this Saturday night at UFC 114 (May 29).

From John Hathaway:

“I feel like because I’m aggressive and I push the pace it makes me an exciting fighter…I’m not trying to be marketable in any way. I’m fighting because I love to fight and I just love doing it. It’s the same Octagon, it’s the same rules. I’m just going to look forward to being out there in a slightly more looked at stage…This is easily my biggest fight and my biggest test…Diego’s come along leaps and bounds with his stand-up, and I still think his hustle and his Jiu-Jitsu are his strongest suits. He’s going to come and try to go frantic on me early, and he’ll probably try and take me down. But I just see myself beating him up standing then eventually getting my takedown and staying on top and trying to pound him out.”
