Gina ‘Conviction’ Carano Likely To Fight For WEC

Dana White has stated in the past that "there isn’t enough good women to create a whole division" when it comes to mixed martial arts competition.  However, White insists that if he did choose to integrate women it would most likely be in the WEC.

Gina "Conviction" Carano is considered the #1 pound for pound MMA fighter in the world today.  The former MMA organization, EliteXC, acquired fame not only through the Miami-based internet fighter Kimbo Slice, but viewers watched their fight cards because of what Carano had to bring in the cage as well.  Not only is she a great fighter, but her beauty assists with the marketing of women’s mixed martial arts.

Carano currently holds an undefeated MMA record of 7 wins, 0 losses.  Her next difficult match-up and the fight that many can’t wait to see would be against hard-hitting Brazilian Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos.  Santos who is 6-1 overall, will hope to meet in the WEC octagon if Dana White does decide to add women into some of their future fight cards.

Here’s a snip from UFC President Dana White:

"I wouldn’t be opposed to (a fight between Gina Carano and Cristiane Santos)…and if I did do it, I’d probably do it in the WEC…Gina Carano is a star, and I think she’s talented I think she has all the tools, so what I’m willing to do is bring Gina
into the WEC. We could do fights whenever there’s a challenge for Gina.  That’s how I’ll test the waters and see how it goes.”
