The current UFC welterweight champion Georges “Rush” St. Pierre (GSP) is currenly riding on a 6-fight winning streak. He recently defended his title against with a win over Thiago Alves at UFC 100 via a unanimous decision. With GSP defeating a tough opponent like Alves in dominating fashion, it seems like he may very well be ready for the super fight all MMA fans have been waiting for. That’s right, a match-up between GSP and Anderson “The Spider” Silva is a fight everyone has been waiting for. The winner here can answer a lot of questions, especially for those asking who the #1 pound-for-pound fighter really is. Although many believe that the heavyweight Russian fighter Fedor Emelianenko is arguablly the #1 pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Silva and GSP are without a doubt on the top of the list.
Here’s a snip from GSP himself:
“If I fight Anderson Silva one day, if this fight happens, I’m going to take an extra month to make sure that my weight is at 200 pounds minimum. I want to get bigger and I’m going to take some extra time to do that because if I do it I want to do it well. And if I do it I want to win … there is only one thing on my mind. I’m not going to do it just to try. If I do it it’s to win. It depends on the timing — right now is not good timing for me, but maybe one day it will be.”
