The former UFC light heavyweight champion recently lost his title to Rashad “Sugar” Evans at UFC 92.  Griffin will be taking on an even tougher challenge at UFC 101 when he faces the fighter considered by many as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world, Anderson “The Spider” Silva.  Silva curently owns the 185-pound belt, but will be moving up to 205 pounds to test his skills a bit further.  Silva has moved up in weight before, defeating James Irvin via TKO (strikes) at UFC Fight Night 14.

Griffin has won 3 of his last 4 fights in the octagon and understands the hurdle that is set to be in front of him on August 8th.  UFC 101 will headline the UFC lightweight title match-up between BJ Penn and Kenny Florian.  The event will take place at the Wachovia Center in Philadephia, Pennsylvania.

Here’s a recent blog entry written by Forrest Griffin (courtesy of bsnonline.net):

What’s up guys, been a while since this blog went up. A couple things are going on with me right now… have I talked about my new book yet? It’s not coming out for another month, but if you do get a chance to pick up a copy, I will be doing a book tour in June. You can check out the specific places & dates on my website, but I think we are hitting up New York, New Jersey, California…. Vegas, of course. I’m still pretty amazed it’s coming out… I joke about it really. I thought they were pulling the plug on it. In all honesty, I actually had a lot of fun getting it done; really awesome. I mentioned this in another interview, but all I had to do was call the guy up and scream about how much I hate stuff. I guess he recorded it and turned it into a book.

Just got done with 2 really cool things this week; the BSN crew came out to Vegas and shot me for the better part of the week. Photo and Video. Not sure what they are planning, but stay tuned to this site for something new in the next few weeks. I think they are writing a brand new video series revolving around my life and training. I also was on the show “Dr. Phil” yesterday; check it out, the episode airs May 14th.

Other than that, I’m just mainly focusing on my up coming fight with Spider at UFC 101. I know, the news broke a few weeks ago, but I haven’t had a chance to address it on here till now. I jumped on the idea to fight Silva… this is going to be one ridiculous match. I need to be mentally prepared to fight this guy. The past few fights, it looks like nobody has really lived up to their potential when going up against Spider. I want to at least come in and fight up to my ability. I’m just focused on dealing with him, showing up prepared and getting an actual fight going.

That’s all I got guys. Thanks for reading. Catch you next time.

-Forrest
