Former UFC fighters are upset as WCO Event is Canceled by the CSAC

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) was forced to cancel the WCO event due to "insufficient funds."  The light heavyweight event was scheduled for Saturday night (Jan. 12, 2007), which headlined Renato "Babalu" Sobral vs. Vernon "Tiger" White.  The fight card included several other former UFC fighters such as Ricco "Suave" Rodriguez, David "The Crow" Loiseau, Mark "The Smashing Machine" Kerr, John "Diesel" Riggs and Wesley "Cabbage" Correira.

Armando Garcia, the CSAC executive director, stated that the promoters of the event (WCO and Valor Fighting) had insufficient funds to pay the fighters participating in the event.  WCO officials later tried to apply for a promoter’s license, which would allow them to pay the fighters on a later date.  Unfortunately, they were rejected by the CSAC since there wasn’t enough time to set up the license prior to the event.
