Former UFC Fighter Justin Eilers Shot Dead In Idaho (1978-2008)

Justin Eilers was shot to death due to some sort of domestic disturbance earlier today according to Idaho police.  Eilers was pronounced dead at the scene on December 26, 2008.  Eilers was only 30 years old.

Reports state that Eilers had gathered with several relatives and an argument broke out.  Eilers began to throw dishes and other items across the room and when asked to leave, he simply refused.  The owner of the home, believed to be a man by the name of James Robert Malec, pulled out a gun and shot Eilers in the chest.  The autopsy conducted today indicated a single gunshot to the chest, which penetrated through one of his lungs.

Eilers had won 10 of his last 12 fights, losing recently to Antonio "Big Foot" Silva in a heavyweight title match late July of 2008.  The young fighter trained at Miletich Fighting Systems in Bettendorf, Iowa.  He recently told his manager Monte Cox that he was looking to drop down to the light heavyweight division.  Cox later stated, "he was really getting his fight career together."  A very sad ending for the former UFC and WEC fighter, but he will be remembered for the great memories he provided us with every time he stepped into the octagon.

Our blessings go to his family and close friends on this unfortunate tragedy.
