The world’s top ranked heavyweight fighter in the world, Fedor Emelianenko, will be clashing against former UFC heavyweight Fabricio Werdum at a co-promoted event set by Strikeforce and M-1 Global.
Fedor is coming off an 11-fight winning streak with his most recent knockout win over Brett ‘The Grim’ Rogers last November of 2009. The Russian Sambo expert will have a very difficult match-up as he tests his ground skills versus the Judo/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Werdum. The two-time Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships winner, holds submission victories over Emelianenko’s younger brother, Aleksander Emelianenko, and current Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair ‘Demolition Man’ Overeem.
The Fedor vs. Werdum match-up will officially take place on June 26 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. Strikeforce officials announced that Showtime will broadcast the event.
