Fedor Emelianenko And Tim Sylvia Released From Their Contracts

The UFC has announced that the former heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia has been officially released from his UFC contract.  So now the question is, where will he go next?  On a recent interview with HDNet, it seemed like there was a possibility for a move to M-1 Global.

A few months ago, there were rumors that indicated a possibility of Sylvia moving from the UFC and into M-1 Global since he was very eager in fighting the current #1 heavyweight in the world, Fedor Emelianenko.  The odd thing now is that Fedor is leaving the M-1 Global organization and we just don’t know where he’ll end up next.

Here’s a snip from Monte Cox (President and CEO of M-1 Global):

"There is so much going on in the world of mixed martial arts right now
that we have decided it is in our best interest if our company and
Fedor go our separate ways…During the past six months, the landscape of MMA, especially in the
U.S., has dramatically changed.  The sport continues to gain mainstream
acceptance, and we believe we will be in a better position to
capitalize on these new opportunities with this agreement."

Releasing Emelianenko has forced Sibling Entertainment to let Emelianenko’s manager, Vadim Finkelchtein, take over the name M-1.  Monte Cox and Sibling Entertainment will continue working on their MMA organization and will be announcing their new name on a later date.
