EliteXC will be having their next mixed martial arts event on October 4th and Proelite has officially announced it’s main bout. The next event called EliteXC "Heat" will headline Miami’s underground street fighter Kimbo Slice who will take on former UFC fighter Ken Shamrock. Also on the card is former EliteXC middleweight champion Murilo ‘Ninja’ Rua as he looks to square off with Benji "Razor" Radach. The event will be televised on national television once again, on CBS, and it will take place at the Bank Atlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida.
Kimbo defeated James Thompson in his last EliteXC bout back in late May. In a very disappointing performance, Kimbo was able to pull off a win over Thompson at the 38 second mark of the third round. He now has an MMA record of 3-0 and will look to add his fourth when he takes on "The World’s Most Dangerous Man", Ken Shamrock.
Shamrock (26-13-2) is looking to stop the 5-fight losing streak he has going in his late MMA career. He says he’s more than ready to take on Kimbo as he feels that this will be a great opportunity for him to redeem himself. Shamrock’s last loss was to British fighter Robert "Buzz" Berry at the Cage Rage 25 event that took place back in early March this year. It’ll be interesting to see if Shamrock will change things up a bit here and give Kimbo a war in the cage.
Murilo "Ninja" Rua (16-8-1) is back in fight mode after losing his EliteXC middleweight title to Robbie "Ruthless" Lawler in mid-September of 2007 via TKO-strikes in Round 3. Since then, Ninja has bounced back with 2 huge wins over Xavier Foupa-Pokam at Cage Rage 24: "Feel the Pain" via a rear-naked choke submission in the second round. Later, he was called back to fight in the EliteXC: "The Return of the King" event which was held this past June. He pulled off a great TKO victory over Tony Bonello in the first round. His confidence is back again and all he can think about now is having his rematch bout with Lawler as he is in a mission to recuperate the belt he had not too long ago. However, he’s going to have to get past former UFC contender Benji "Razor" Radach.
Radach (18-4-0) has been in the fight game since 2001 and has fought in several well-known organizations including the UFC, WEC and the IFL. EliteXC newcomer will look to add his first win with the organization as he takes on the very dangerous Ninja Rua. Radach has won 5 of his last 6 fights, winning 4 of those 6 fights in the first round. He is known for finishing his fights when, so it won’t be an easy fight for Ninja Rua.
Gina Carano is also expected to participate in the same fight card, but no opponent has been announced just yet. We’ll definitely keep you guys posted once we’re informed.
