The current UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was originally scheduled to fight no. 1 heavyweight contender and undefeated fighter Shane Carwin at UFC 106.  Due to illness, Lesnar was forced off of the fight card and their bout for the title was pushed to January 2nd, 2010.  Lesnar was criticized for his recent blowing of the horn at the ‘Vikings vs. Ravens’ NFL game.  In various MMA forums, fans believed that his “illness” was a way to get Lesnar on UFC’s year-end-show while other believed he just wasn’t ready for his fight against Shane Carwin. Their fight was rumored to be pushed for UFC 108 on January 2nd, 2010; however, now it appears that the UFC heavyweight title match may be postponed for Superbowl weekend in February.

Here’s what Lesnar’s head coach Greg Nelson had to say:

“I’m not sure exactly what it is he has, mono or whatever, but I know that he was sick and couldn’t get a good, hard workout in. There’s a big difference between making an appearance and smiling and waving at a football game and going out and doing what he has to do in his training.”
