BJ Penn will fight Sean Sherk for the title

Great news for all MMA fans around the world!  Dana White stated on the "HotList" (ESPN show) that BJ Penn would be offered a chance to obtain the Lightweight title in November of this year.  It’s definitely not going to be an easy task as he now has to face the man who defended his title on Saturday night’s UFC-73, Sean Sherk.

Sherk recently fought Hermes Franca, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu master.  Sherk used his monster strength to overpower Hermes as he proved to be the better fighter after 5 long rounds of ground work.  Sherk fought an extremely intense match where he won by unanimous decision.

B.J. Penn has been waiting for a title match since the time his Welterweight belt was taken away after beating Matt Hughes for it.  The belt was taken from him when he switched from UFC and into K-1.  There was a huge controversy at the time because Penn signed a deal with K-1 due to the expiration of his contract with the UFC.  Penn stated that it was not his fault his contract was up, but there was nothing he could do anymore as his belt was taken away without further discussions.

Penn has been going up and down in weight classes for the past few years now and this will be his first time fighting for the Lightweight belt.  This will be a fight that many of us will be looking forward to watching since Penn is such an excellent Jiu-Jitsu expert.  He was the first non-Brazilian to win at the Mundial World Championships, where he acquired the Gold Medal in Jiu-Jitsu for the black belt division in 2000.  Penn has been in the game for years now, so expect an unbelievable fight…
