Babalu Sobral vs. Gegard Mousasi Still On, Set For Strikeforce On August 15

Mousasi vs Babalu

Affliction ‘Trilogy’ was days away from being televised worldwide, airing a spectacular fight card for all MMA fans around the world.  Renato “Babalu” Sobral vs. Gegard Mousasi headlined the Affliction 3 co-main event, a highly anticipated bout for many.  However due to some issues that Affliction MMA faced, the August 1st event was canceled completely.

The good news is, we recently learned that Babalu will still be taking on Mousasi as it was moved toward the Strikeforce ‘Carano vs. Cyborg’ televised fight card.  Apparently, Strikeforce was able to acquire both men to fight in the cage on August 15th as part of the main card.  Babalu is currently the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, so he’ll be putting his belt on the line as they enter combat at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California.

The Strikeforce August 15 event will headline a female championship fight between Gina “Conviction” Carano and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos.  The winner of the bout will receive the first female Strikeforce title in the history of the promotion.
