Antonio Rogerio Nogueira Fights Late Replacement Jason Brilz At UFC 114, Forrest Griffin Hurt

UFC 114 was expecting a light heavyweight showdown between former 205-pound champion Forrest Griffin against PrideFC superstar Antonio Rogerio ‘Lil Nog’ Nogueira.  Due to a recent shoulder injury Griffin suffered, we have learned that he will not be able to be healthy enough to fight at the UFC 114 event.

Jason Brilz has stepped in for the injured Griffin and will look to take on Minotauro’s brother, ‘Lil Nog’, on the UFC 114 main card in Las Vegas.  Brilz is coming off a unanimous decision win over Eric Schafer, at the UFC on Versus 1 show that was held back in March.  Prior to that, Brilz has won 12 of his last 14 MMA bouts and two of those were in the UFC.  One of his fights ended in a draw and he lost the other via a split decision.  With that kind of MMA record, Brilz is not the type of fighter Nogueira can take lightly.

This May 29 event is scheduled to take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be headlined by a much anticipated light heavyweight fight between TUF Season 10 coaches, Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson vs. Rashad ‘Sugar’ Evans.

From ‘Lil Nog’:

“What can I do? I want to fight him standing up and then fall onto the ground and try to finish him. It switched from a striker to a wrestler but I’ll still be searching for the knockout.”
