Anderson Silva To Fight Roy Jones Jr. In Pro-Boxing Match After UFC Contract

Anderson “The Spider” Silva has announced that he intends to box Roy Jones Jr. immediately after he completes his contract with the UFC.  The pro-boxing match was talked about before, but nothing was arranged due to contractual issues Silva has with the UFC.  UFC contracts do not allow fighters to participate in any other promotion but the UFC unless there is a separate agreement.  Randy Couture has been wanting to fight Fedor Emelianenko for the longest, but the UFC has made that basically impossible because they do not allow any cross-promotions with any other companies.

Silva seems very focused on a boxing match with Roy Jones Jr. immediately after he completes his contract.  He has stated before that he has nothing else to prove when it comes to mixed martial arts and the next chapter in his fight career looks to be pro-boxing so why not fight a big name like Roy Jones Jr.?  It’s sad to see Silva retired from MMA for good, but we wish him the best of luck in whatever he decides to do.

Snip from the Spider:

“After my contract with the UFC ends and end my career in MMA, I inted to have a boxing match with Roy Jones.  That’s something that’s already been arranged, it’s all practically a done deal.  Now I just have to wait and see.”
