Alistair Overeem Announces May 15 Strikeforce Non Title Heavyweight Fight Against Brett Rogers

Alistair Overeem plans on making his Strikeforce return since acquiring the heavyweight title after defeating Paul Buentello back in November of 2007.  In a recent radio interview, Overeem tells us that he’s scheduled to fight on the Strikeforce May 15 card against Brett Rogers.

Rogers is coming off his first MMA loss to Fedor Emelianenko back in November 2009.  The 265-pound Minnesota fighter is eager to bounce back strong by adding a victory over former PrideFC fighter Overeem.  Rogers continues to be one of the biggest threats in the Strikeforce heavyweight division so expect a strong comeback.

As for Overeem, he seemed pretty content with his overall K-1 performance in the past few events he participated in.  He told media that now he hopes to focus solely on MMA, targeting a possible bout against no.1 title heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko sometime later this year.  That’s if Fedor is successful against Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fighter Fabricio Werdum, expected to take place on an undetermined future card.
