The former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia is currently training hardcore for his upcoming fight against Fedor Emelianenko. Fedor is considered the #1 heavyweight in the world today when it comes to mixed martial arts and Sylvia shows nothing but respect for the Russian Sambo fighter.
In a press conference held by the new organization Affliction, Sylvia talks about his bout with Fedor on July 19th and mentions the strategy he wants to apply against the former PrideFC champ. He also goes on to talk about the heavyweight division in Affliction as he considers it the strongest of all organizations. He seems happy to be part of the Affliction organization as they were able to sign up top MMA fighters in that weight class. Here’s a snip from the former UFC heavyweight champ Tim Sylvia:
“I don¹t think my game plans have ever been much of a secret…Stand up and brawl, defend the takedowns at all costs and try to knock him out…I think Affliction has signed seven of the top heavyweights in the world…Three of us are former UFC champions. Fedor is on the card and he gets to fight a top 10 fighter…He’s beaten everybody they’ve thrown in front of him…How could he be overrated? It doesn¹t bother me like people think it does…I’m a fighter and I love to fight”
Donald Trump also commented on a few things during the press conference. Although the UFC has already planned to have the UFC Fight Night 14 event for the same date and time (July 19th), Trump continues to show great respect for Dana White and the UFC organization. He also went on to talk about the growth of mixed martial arts and his love for the sport. Here’s the snip:
“I enjoy it…I watch it. I like the MMA stuff. It’s the new wave. I don¹t know if it’s taking over from boxing. But I think it might be…I think we may top them (UFC organization) because we have the better fighters…Dana’s been very respectful of me and I of him.”
