WEC lightweight (155 lbs.) fighter Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone is currently training for his upcoming WEC 45 main event fight against Ed ’9mm’ Ratcliff, which is scheduled for December 19th. After his bout with Ratcliff, Cerrone announced that he would like to face the current WEC featherweight (145 lbs.) champion Jose Aldo. Although he wants to fight Aldo sometime down the road, he plans on staying as a lightweight for the rest of his career.
“I’m going to call out Jose Aldo and drop down to 145. I’m really looking forward to that. I’m not running away from the 155 pound weight class. I’m going to stay at 155, but just also going to fight at 145.”

Ben “Smooth” Henderson acquired the WEC interim lightweight title after defeating Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone via a unanimous decision at WEC 43. Although many believed that Cerrone did sneak in a win in the last few rounds of the bout, Henderson was awarded the victory in the eyes of the judges. Cerrone didn’t hesitate to say that Henderson was the better man that night in San Antonio, Texas.
From Donald Cerrone:
“No excuses. I take my hat off to the guy. He did what he had to do. No excuses. It was a great fight and I’m ready to do it again anytime … I think he won the fight. Some people say it might not have gone that way, but he definitely won the fight.”
