Aleksander Emelianenko May Fight Blagoi Ivanov On Sept. 29, Looks To Avenge Brother Fedor’s Loss

Blagoi Ivanov is set to make his mixed martial arts debut on August 2nd at the Sengoku ‘Ninth Battle’ event against PrideFC heavyweight superstar Kazuyuki Fujita.  Ivanov is known for defeating the four-time World Combat Sambo Champion and the world’s top heavyweight mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter Fedor Emelianenko in Sambo competition.  He defeated Fedor via points during the semifinals of the tournament.  Now, Ivanov plans to test his Sambo skills a bit further by entering the MMA world in a quest to become the world’s best heavyweight MMA fighter in the world as well.

We learned that the Bulgarian Sambo expert has not only decided to use his fight skills in MMA against Fujita at Sengoku ‘Ninth Battle’, but he is now reportedly going to face Fedor Emelianenko’s brother, Aleksander Emelianenko, in a September 29 fight at an event over in South Korea.  Aleksander is currently riding a 6-fight winning streak with all of his victories coming in the very first round.

Aleksander Emelianenko defeated Ibragim Magomedov via TKO (cut-doctor stoppage) within the first minute of the first round.  Fedor’s brother, Aleksander, was nearly knocked out by a devastating overhand right punch by Magomedov just before the fight was stopped.

M-1 Challenge 9 is the name of the fight card, scheduled to take place tonight (November 21, 2008) in St. Petersburg.

Renato ‘Babalu’ Sobral Also Signs with Hardcore Championship Fighting

Renato "Babalu" Sobral is now officially fighting for 2 organizations.  At the playboy mansion last Saturday, an announcement by Strikeforce was made stating that Babalu had signed a fight contract with their organization. 

He recently told GracieMag that he has also signed with the Canadian HCF (Hardcore Championship Fighting) organization as his second home.  HCF is also the home for two other popular mixed martial artists, which include Aleksander Emelianenko and Antonio "Minotoro" Rogerio Nogueira (the twin brother to Minotauro who is currently in the UFC).
