Alistair Overeem To Defend Strikeforce Title In 2010, First With Brett Rogers and Then Against Fedor Emelianenko

Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair ‘Demolition Man’ Overeem makes a statement to all of his fans and critics.  Overeem is tired of everyone criticizing him for not defending the Strikeforce title since 2007.  He explains how he fought most of his past years with K-1, but has decided to dedicate the rest of 2010 with mixed martial arts.

From Alistair Overeem:

“I’m a MMA fighter first, that’s my passion. K-1 is a challenge. Fans wanted to see me in the Grand Prix and K-1 made me a very good offer. But the United States is my priority in 2010. I want to fight over here a couple more times this year… Of course I want to fight Fedor. I’ve been wanting to fight him for a long time. I know he’s just a fighter and doesn’t really choose his fights. Whether it’s his management or not, they don’t want a fight with me. They see me as a threat. They know what I’m capable of. But I’m the champ here, and it’s time to defend my title. So Brett got the chance and it will be an interesting fight… I’m not in this to shut people up. People can say what they want. It’s my job, I get paid for this. Fans aren’t my boss, I don’t care what they have to say. I fight for me.”
