The former MMA/Internet street fighter Kimbo Slice is currently training for another combat sport that does not involve bare knuckles nor fingerless 4 to 6 ounce gloves. That’s right, Kimbo will be officially entering the world of boxing. Although there is no word on his first opponent, he tells media that he’ll be willing to fight just about anyone, even former UFC one-time fighter James ‘Lights Out’ Toney.
From Kimbo Slice:
“I never heard anything about me fighting James Toney, but you know, like I said, again, I’ll fight anybody, man. C’mon, everybody knows that about me from my street-fighting days. Put anybody in front of me, train me to be the best, I’ll fight the best. That’s one thing about Kimbo Slice that everybody knows.”
UCC 3 ‘Renegades’ MMA Event Airs Live Online September 10 From New Jersey

August 31, 2010, Jersey City, NJ – On September 10, 2010, Jersey City’s National Guard Armory will set stage to the next major Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event to take place directly outside of New York City– “UCC 3: RENEGADES.” This is the third event of the Tri-State area’s premiere professional fight series: Urban Conflict Championship (UCC).
The event will be produced and broadcast live from WWW.UCCFIGHTS.COM with coverage beginning at 8:00pm EST on September 10, 2010. The live web broadcast will be powered by Global Mobile Video, who specializes in cutting edge technology for mobile web broadcasting.
Headlining the fight card will be a featherweight matchup between Ryan “Are You Ready?” Roberts (13-9) who fought for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in early 2008, against Team BombSquad’s Anthony Leone (8-1) who has World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) experience, and is coming off the only loss of his career.
The “UCC 3: RENEGADES” Fight Card will feature 9+ professional bouts including:
- Featherweight 145 lbs – Ryan Roberts (13-9) v. Anthony Leone (8-1)
- Welterweight 170 lbs – Luiz Azeredo (10-7) v. Brandon Adamson (10-8)
- Welterweight 170 lbs – Kevin Horowitz (2-0) v. Ryan Quinn (3-2)
- Featherweight 145 lbs – Felipe Arantes (4-2) v. Jason McLean (5-2)
UCC 3: RENEGADES will be the largest professional MMA event to take place directly outside New York City, where the sport of MMA continues to stir political controversy. In June of this year Bill No. S2165B, designed to legalize MMA events in the state of New York, was approved in the State Senate by a vote of 32-26. The bill currently remains under discussion in the Ways and Means Committee before it will go to the Assembly floor for a general vote. Governor David A. Paterson has publically supported the legalization of MMA as part of his 2010-2011 Executive Budget Plan. In the event that the bill passes, New York would join the majority as the 45th state to legalize the sport of MMA.
Urban Conflict Championship debuted their first event in March of this year, “UCC 1: MERCILESS,” and has continued to distinguish itself as the premiere ALL PROFESSIONAL MMA fight league in the Tri-State area. The league’s recent success has been powered by an arsenal of exciting matchups, featuring championship caliber fighters such as David Branch, Dante Rivera, John Troyer, Josh Rave, and Alexandre Moreno. The UCC has also proved itself as an impressive breeding ground for first-time professional fighters and upcoming talent. The UCC 1: MERCILESS fight card featured 9 bouts, in a pulse-pounding atmosphere that saw only one fight end in the judge’s decision. The action returned on May 14, 2010, as UCC 2: STRIKEDOWN packed The National Guard Armory of Jersey City with over 2,500 people for another exciting night of MMA fights. TheGarv.com was quoted describing the fighters from UCC 2: STRIKEDOWN, “from the opening bell to the last mome nts of the main event,” as nothing short of gladiators. Highlights from the Urban Conflict Championship fight series have been re-aired on national television by HDNet Fight’s Inside MMA.
HD Net Fights, Untamed Industries, Twisted Tea, Muscle Maker Grill, Smash Fight Wear, BuddhaSport.com, and the Hoboken International Film Festival will sponsor the event. Film production will be managed by Long Shot Productions LLC.
Fight teams to be featured: AMA Fight Club, American Top Team, Disorderly Conduct, Fight Factory (PA), Gold Team Fighters, LA Boxing, North Jersey MMA, Paul Carnacella BJJ, Rhino Fight Team, Team BombSquad, Team Iron Horse, Team Miletich.

Chad Mendes Confident With His Gameplan To Defeat Cub Swanson At WEC 50

Chad Mendes respects Cub Swanson’s fighting style as he is hours away from colliding with him on the WEC 50 main card which airs tonight on the Versus Channel. Mendes believes he has the right gameplan to prevent Swanson from getting too confident and comfortable during their bout.
From Chad Mendes:
“He’s a tough fighter, he’s confident with his stand-up. To me it seems like the more you just kind of stand in front of him and let him get confident and comfortable, the better he is.He’s also got a great guillotine choke but we’ve put together a great gameplan for Cub that I think is going to be awesome for this fight. Both stand-up and ground is tough with Cub so this gameplan should work great.”

Joe Riggs Calls Out Nick Diaz Following Strikeforce Challengers 10 Win Over Louis Taylor

Strikeforce fighter Joe Riggs called out Nick Diaz after his Strikeforce Challengers 10 win over hard hitting Louis Taylor. So what’s next for ‘Diesel’ Riggs? His manager believes a rematch bout against Diaz would be huge for him even though he feels he beat him fair and square the first time they met which was back in February of 2006 at UFC 57.
From Joe Riggs:
“Thank God I got the knockout. It all came together tonight. My corner behind me believed in me and pushed me through. It was great…. Who do I want to fight next? I’d like to fight Nick Diaz again. It’s kind of sad that I’ve already beat him and I want to fight him again, but that’s a fun fight. My manager, Don, thinks it would be a lucrative fight for me — so let’s get that going. He thinks he beat me the first time and he fucking didn’t!”
