Thiago Alves Talks About Making Weight For His UFC Fights (‘Inside MMA’)

Thiago Alves is considered today as the UFC's #1 contender for the welterweight title.  In the show 'Inside MMA', Alves talks about making weight before his UFC fights.  He says he normally stands at 205 lbs. when he's not preparing for a fight.  That means he goes down a total of 35 pounds every single time he steps into the octagon.  That's a lot of cutting and it's amazing how he is able to keep most of his muscle and strength…

Karo Parisyan Tests Positive For Pain Killers After Defeating Dong Hyun Kim At UFC 94

Karo "The Heat" Parisyan fought and defeated Dong Hyun Kim via a split decision at UFC 94.  Parisyan gave Kim his first loss in mixed martial arts, but with the use of prescribed pain killers.  According to Keith Kizer, the Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director, Parisyan tested positive for hydrocodone, hydromorphone and oxymorphone.

Parisyan will most likely be facing a suspension and fine from the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).
The fight could also be overturned from a victory to a no-contest,
but there is no official decision yet.  We'll keep you guys posted.
