Babalu Signs with Strikeforce After Leaving UFC
September 30, 2007 by Merv Ratt
Yesterday at “Strikeforce at the Playboy Mansion” a special announcement was made that the recently released UFC fighter had signed with the California-Based, Strikeforce organization.
Renato “Babalu” Sobral was recently in the news for being fined $25,000 and released from the UFC after refusing to break a chokehold on opponent David Heath at UFC 74. This was a tragic event for the fighter who was having trouble finding an organization to sign him. The fighter said that he extended the choke due to some disrespectful comments that Heath said towards Babalu.
There are no news stating when Babalu will fight, however it should be interesting to see how this move will affect his game.

MMA FIGHT of the Week: Wanderlei Silva vs. Kazushi Sakuraba
September 28, 2007 by Merv Ratt
This week we feature the fight between Wanderlei “Axe Murderer” Silva and Kazushi Sakuraba at Pride 13-Collision Course. The Axe Murderer meets the Japanese superstar for the very first time in his MMA career. Sakuraba was the current middleweight champion at the time until Silva came in to kick some ass and take some names, 18 names that is. Silva came into PrideFC and was unbeaten in 20 straight fights (18 wins, 1 NC-Gilbert Yvel, 1 Draw-Mirko Cro Cop) from 1999-2004.
Here is the MMA FIGHT of the Week, the first fight that started the trilogy between Wanderlei Silva and Kazushi Sakuraba (notice Tito Ortiz handing out flowers to both fighters in the beginning of the fight):
